Terms And Conditions

Photo identification must be provided on the day of hire. Accepted forms of I.D are driving licence or passport. This will be kept and stored securely for the duration of the hire and will be issued back to you once bikes and equipment are returned in the same condition as was received at the start of hire.
A security/damage deposit may also be taken from the hirer’s credit/debit card.

Safety & Security

All bicycles are routinely safety checked before hand-over and a cycle helmet will be offered to you. We recommend wearing a cycle helmet.

You will be deemed to be completely satisfied that your bike, and equipment, is fit for purpose if not reported promptly otherwise to a member of staff.
The bicycles must be returned in the same condition in which they left the hire centre. All damages however caused will be charged.
Examples of damage may include (but are not limited to) the following.

  1. Broken or damaged derailleurs, brake levers, shifters, bent crank arms, and ripped saddles due to impact or operator error.
  2. Flat spots on tyres due to repeated skidding.
  3. Buckled wheels due to impact, being jumped on or driven over, or placed in a bike rack and allowed to fall over.
  4. Missing or damaged helmets. Should you experience a serious fall with a head impact, we will need to replace the helmet at your cost.
  5. Broken pannier racks due to impact or overloading or doubling a person.

All bicycles will be provided with a lock and the hirer is responsible for ensuring that it is adequately secured during the period of hire. The hirer will be responsible for the full replacement cost of the bicycle, at current market price, if it is lost or stolen during the period of hire.

Devon Cycle Hire Ltd does not provide any cover nor cannot accept any liability for death, personal injury or direct loss suffered to you or your party or third party (i.e. damage caused to others or their property). It is recommended that you take out insurance to cover such liability or ensure that your holiday insurance covers this. If in doubt, check with your insurance company.
At all times you accept that cycling has inherent risks and that all equipment may fail.

Devon Cycle Hire Ltd does not supply bicycles for touring, mountain biking or same sex groups i.e stag groups. A minimum of £20 for an out of schedule service and £10 cleaning for excessive mud/dirt will be charged.

Electric Bicycles:

What Our Fantastic Customers Say

Hired two bikes whilst on holiday in Devon in August 2015 . Fantastic location and cycled from the hire centre to Lydford gorge then back in the other direction to Okehampton . Great fun for adults and kids alike and route should be easy for most . Lovely views over Meldon reservoir . My teenage daughter really enjoyed herself . Staff very helpful and accommodating and bikes were of good quality . Price very reasonable too . We did the whole route in three hours but you could make a day of it stopping off for a pint or cream tea in one of many available pubs or cafes on route . Highly recommended
